4SQRP Group Springs an ‘October Surprise’!
The leaves are turning, daylight is getting increasingly scarce, but that isn’t stopping the Four State QRP Group from offering up another chance to hit the outdoors, operate portable, and earn some bragging rights!
It’s the 4SQRP’s first annual 4×4 Sprint, which comes up tomorrow, Oct. 6, from 1700 to 2100 UTC. You can read all about it here.
For those of use who enjoy these events, which send you to the field to operate (if you want to snag the bonus points offered therefor), I suspect that a fall sprint like this is welcome. It’s long enough to make a good number of contacts, but short enough to fit into otherwise busy weekends. And it fills a gap between the New England QRP Club’s QRP Afield event in September and the Freeze Your Butt Off gig in February, organized by the Arizona ScQRPions QRP Club. (Help me, ya’ll, if I missed something in between.)
Indeed, 2012 has been a good year for these sorts of events. In August, the New Jersey QRP Club kicked off its first annual (and highly successful) Skeeter Hunt. Now the 4×4 Sprint has joined the list.
Good luck, 4x4s! I hope to work you tomorrow!
